Corporate History

1901 Founded as a bakery in Hongo, Tokyo.
1904 Invented a custard-filled bun.
1909 Relocated the head office to the current Shinjuku site.
Started distributing Japanese confectionery.
1920 Started distributing Western confectionery.
1923 Reorganized into a shareholder organization named Nakamuraya Co., Ltd.
1927 Established a Restaurant Division. Released Pure Indian curry, Chinese dumpling and mooncake.
1951 Completion of the Sasazuka (Tokyo) Factory.
1953 Started multi-store operation around this period
(in department stores and franchised stores).
1963 Established the Osaka Sales Office.
1968 Completion of the Kanagawa Factory.
1970 Established sales offices in various areas around this period.
1973 Invested and acquired Kokko Seika Co., Ltd. as a subsidiary.
1977 Invested and acquired Happy More Co., Ltd. as a subsidiary.
1979 Completion of the Saitama Factory.
1982 Opened the first Southern European restaurant “Olive House”.
1983 Completion of the Food Factory (adjacent to the Kanagawa Factory).
1989 Completion of the Chinese dumpling factory building in the Saitama Factory.
1991 Invested in and acquired NAC Co., Ltd as a subsidiary (later NAC System Co., Ltd.)
1998 Completion of the Tsukuba Factory.
2001 Entered the retort food market.
2003 HACCP-certified for processing pouch retorts in the Food Factory.
2008 Started mail-order distribution via the Internet.
2011 Closed the head office for rebuilding.
2014 All businesses transferred from Happy More Co., Ltd.
  Inaugurated an Azumino City Sightseeing Ambassador.
  Grand opening of Shinjuku Nakamuraya Building, a commercial building, in the premises of the former Nakamuraya Head Office.
2016 Opened a “Western Cuisine Restaurant Shinjuku Nakamuraya”.
2017 All businesses transferred from Kokko Seika Co., Ltd.
2018 Completion of the Musashi Factory.
2019 All shares transferred from NAC System Co., Ltd.
  Opened the Chinese Dumpling Museum.
